Drawing is my thing.

As a child I drew. But, for more than twenty years I put aside my creative self, and instead, followed a conventional path to a career in computer design with a side helping of motherhood.

On coming to my senses, I bought myself some pencils and paint, and completed a Diploma of Visual Arts (2003), and an Advanced Diploma of Fine Arts (2006) at Brougham Art School in Geelong.

Drawing is integral to my life. Although I have enjoyed working in many different mediums including painting, collage and sculpture, drawing is always at the core of my practice.

I love to work on and with paper, for the properties it presents, its smooth materiality, its relative fragility and its openness to manipulation and transformation.

I have been a selected entrant in the Wyndham Art Prize, the Rick Amor Drawing Prize, an invited artist for the Kedumba Drawing Award, a selected artist in the Toyota Sculpture14 Award, the Flanagan and Hutchins Art Prizes, and the Swan Hill Print & Drawing Prize.

I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given to develop collections of work, and present them in an immersive gallery environment, in particular at 45 downstairs gallery in Melbourne.

 I also write poetry.

Currently, I am intrigued by birds, especially crows and ravens, beautiful members of the Corvid family. They are not universally loved but are, nonetheless, incredibly smart and compelling. Flock behaviour such as murmuration has also got my attention. This is giving me much drawing pleasure, as well as the opportunity to contemplate some bigger questions about cooperation, relationships and wisdom.
